Don't even think about putting a knife to this. And who would use a bent cutting board anyway?
This beautiful piece of woodwork is my "sammich board". Gifted to me by one of my "little" brothers (they're both at least 6'4") who fancies himself a bit of a craftsman as well as a diesel mechanic and generally hilarious dewd, but that's not what this is about! Get back on track! Focus!
As you've probably learned, I make a lot of sandwiches. I also tend to make them at lunch, at home and use a Kirkland Signature paper plate to eat off of. No shame in the Costco game. But my little bro, being the thoughtful angel he is, figured I should have a much kewler platform on which to take photos of my magical creations. Being that he lives in Oregon, some fresh lumber he had around the shop worked out nicely.
Now, with the way this is made, you can't really use it as a cutting board. It's got a heavy clear coat (polyurethane or something) and it's all curved and whatnot. You couldn't cut anything on here if you tried, except maybe a watermelon. That's actually not a bad idea...
I've used it a couple times, stood up on end, as a backdrop for photos of wine I'm drinking, but it really shines as a sammich board.
Technically I could use any nice cutting board to display my sammiches, but that's boring, isn't it? Larson's don't do boring. Unless of course we've accepted a job where we need to bore some holes. Or Elon Musk needs some help with his new company. But I digress...
My brother has actually made a ton of crafty/innovative stuff as gifts and for work purposes. I should write a whole post about his handiwork. Good idea, Erik.
